Cowling, Murrey Named To The 2009 Big West Honorable Mention Team

Irvine, CA - The Big West Conference doled out its end of season volleyball awards on Tuesday, and UC Riverside seniors Dominique Cowling (pictured right) and Brittney Murrey (pictured left) were named to the Honorable Mention team. Complete Release
Cowling led the Highlanders with 363 total kills and 3.74 kills per set, a personal best, while also finishing 5th in the conference in kills per set. She also ranks seventh in Highlanders history in total attacks.
Murrey tallied 863 assists on the season, finishing seventh in the Big West in assists per game. Her 3,502 career assists is second on the Highlanders career assists charts, while her 8.9 career assists per game ranks third all-time in school history.
UC Santa Barbara's Rebecca Saraceno was named 2009 Player of the Year, while Cal State Fullerton's Kayla Neta was named Freshman of the Year. Kathy Gregory from UCSB and Jamie Holmes from UC Davis were named Co-Coach of the Year.
The Highlanders finished the 2009 season with a 6-21 record, 3-13 in conference play under the tutelage of first-year head coach Ron Larsen.
