Men's Tennis Wins Five Singles Matches On Last Day Of Pre-Regional

Irvine, CA - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team concluded play on Sunday at the Pre-Regional with wins in five of seven singles matches.
Jimmy Roberts needed a tie-breaker to win his match, defeating LMU's Kordschacia 6-4, 4-6, 10-3, but the four other Highlanders wins were in straight sets.
Julian Ruffin defeated LMU's Simko 6-4, 6-1, while Kelly Dickson cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Hovis of Concordia. Marcus Vizcarra won 6-3, 6-2 against Concordia's Casad, while Simon Peterson defeated Szermeta of Concordia 7-5, 6-3.
"We made tremendous progress today, and leaps forward in our quest to make a significant impact in the Big West scene," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "The UCR family should be proud of their efforts so far."
Next up for the Highlanders is the ITA West-South Regional Championship October 19-22.
