Totten Finishes Fourth To Lead Men's Cross Country To Fourth At UCR Invite

Riverside—UC Riverside's Seth Totten placed fourth out of 163 individuals Saturday morning to lead the Men's Cross Country Team to a fourth place finish out of 19 teams in the 8k Invitational race at the 32nd Annual UCR meet.
Big West Conference rival UC Santa Barbara placed all seven runners in the top-16 to claim team honors, finishing with 53 points, just six ahead of Southern Utah with 59. SUU had the top two runners in Ryan Barrus (24:08.6) and Nate Jewkes (24:10.9), and placed five within the top-25.
Cal State San Marcos finished in third place with 107 points followed by the Highlanders with 114 points, and Central Arizona with 129 points.
Totten ran the 8k course in 24:28.3 to finish fourth overall. Cody Jordan came in second for the Highlanders with a time of 24:57.8 to place 19th, while Benjamin Heck finished 27th in 25:15.1.
Michael Gauger was shortly behind him, running in 25:22.7 to finish in 32nd place. Nic Beechan came in 51st place with a time of 25:45.3, while Cesar Solis placed 88th in 26:35.8. Rounding out the team was Sebi Puraci (103rd, 26:53.4) and Carlos Lopez (121st, 27:25.9).
"This year's group is young," Head Coach Irv Ray stated. "But we're learning, and we're still in a good place for the end of the season."
UC Riverside now has two weeks off before the Dellinger Invitational on September 29 in Eugene, OR.
