The UC Riverside men's soccer team (0-2) dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 14 UCLA Sunday afternoon in the Highlanders' second straight game against a ranked opponent to open the season.
The Bruins got on the scoreboard at the 9:19 mark on a Brad Rusin header, and made it 2-0 just before the half on a Michael Stephens penalty kick. Maxwell Griffin ended the scoring with just under 20 minutes to go in the game.
The Highlanders struggled offensively managing just five shots on the afternoon to UCLA's 10.
Things don't get any easier for UCR as they take on No. 19 Saint Louis (Sept. 5 at 2:30 pm PT) and No. 6 Creighton (Sept. 7 at 5 pm) at the Diadora Classic in Omaha, Nebraska.
