UCR's Javon Borum Named Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week

The Big West Conference announced today that UCR’s Javon Borum has been named the Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from November 17-23. The junior guard from Washington, DC averaged 16.5 points on 50 percent shooting from the field, including 40.0 percent from three point range, and 3.0 assists in the Highlanders' two wins on the week.
Borum has topped double-figures in scoring in each of his first three games as a Highlander leading the team in scoring on two occasions - with 11 points at New Mexico State and with a season-high 21 vs. Northern Arizona.
The 6-0 junior is the fourth player in UCR Men's Basketball history to be named Big West Player of the Week. Larry Cunningham and Rickey Porter each won the award twice while Steve Williams received the honor on one occasion.
Borum is averaging a team-high 14.7 points and 3.0 assists on the season while connecting on 53.6 percent of his field goal attempts and 45.5 percent of his three-pointers.
