Highlanders Cross Country Finishes 20th at Notre Dame Invitational

South Bend, IN - The UC Riverside men's and women's cross country teams each finished 20th in their respective races on Friday afternoon at the Notre Dame Invitational hosted at the nine-hole Notre Dame Golf Course in South Bend.
There were a total of 47 schools that competed in the Invitational, with the teams broken down into four races -- two on the women's side and two on the men's side. Both Highlanders teams competed in the Blue Division along with 17 of the top-30 nationally ranked opponents in the country.
On the men's side they included No. 11 Tulsa, No. 15 Providence, No. 20 Butler, No. 22 Washington, No. 24 New Mexico, No. 28 Notre Dame and No. 30 Princeton.
On the women's side the ranked teams included No. 1 Washington, No. 3 Florida State, No. 6 Princeton, No. 12 Providence, Nov. 13 Arizona State, No. 15 Florida, No. 22 Penn State, No. 24 Notre Dame, No. 25 New Mexico and No. 27 Rice.
The Highlanders men's team placed 20th of 23 teams with a total of 447 points. UCR was led by Chad Hall (pictured) who finished 21st individually with a time of 24:17.
Emmanuel Ngula finished second on the squad and 75th individually with a 25:01 time, whileTalal Khan finished 107th completing the course in 25:28. Daniel Lindstrom (118th, 25:36), Jose Melena (126th, 25:46), Steven Crum (128th, 25:48), and Brett Valencia (136th, 26:01) round out the Highlanders lineup.
On the women's side, the Highlanders totaled 533 points and finished 20th of 22 teams. Katy Daly led UCR with a 75th place finish in 17:47, while Damajeria DuBose placed 90th with a time of 18:04.
Ashleigh Pratt finished third on the squad with an 18:21 time to place 107th, while Jenessia Navarro finished 128th, Jackie Juarezplaced 133rd, Margaret Sitker finished 134th, Brittany Reimer finished 135th, and Natalie Aceves placed 170th.
The Highlanders men's and women's cross country teams return to the races at the Northridge Invitational on Friday, October 16 at 4:30 pm in Northridge, CA.
