Emmanuel Ngula can run. His raw talent and his Kenyan heritage all but demand it. After all, aren't all Kenyans runners the moment they leave the womb?
But Daniel Kithoka, his dad, had to convince Emmanuel that running was his ticket to a brighter future. The family had moved from Kenya to the United States in 2001, when Emmanuel was 9, and he grew up an Americanized teenager who decided that running for its own sake was tedious and not nearly as enjoyable as basketball.
