UC Riverside's Brenda Martinez wasn't sure what to expect when she embarked for Europe this month. UCR's All-American runner would no doubt benefit from the experience of competing in six races in Belgium and Germany and lining up against some of the top runners in the world, but even she couldn't have predicted how the trip would unfold.
