Kristina Kelly Nets Game-Winner On 21st Birthday In 1-0 Win Over UT Valley

Kristina Kelly (pictured) celebrated her 21st birthday Sunday afternoon with the game-winning goal in UC Riverside's 1-0 win over Utah Valley (1-7-0). The win pushed the Highlanders (5-2-2) unbeaten streak to seven—the third longest streak in the history of the program.
UC Riverside had the better of the play for much of the match outshooting the Wolverines 21-7 on the afternoon including 9-2 in the first half, but after 45 minutes of play the teams were tied at zero.
Just when it looked like the teams might need extra time to decide on a winner, Aaren Casimiro sent a cross into the Wolverines box which Kelly headed past the Utah Valley keeper with 9:30 remaining in the match.
The Highlanders head to Wyoming this weekend where they will face off against Boise State (Friday at 12:30 PT) and Wyoming (Sunday at 12:30 pm) in the University of Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. Big West Conference play begins the following weekend with a home match against Cal State Fullerton on October 4 at 6 pm.
