North Texas Defeats Softball 7-2 In Final Game Of UTSA Tournament

San Antonio, TX - The UC Riverside softball team (4-9) concluded the UTSA Tournament on Sunday morning with a 7-2 loss to North Texas at Roadrunner Field.
The Highlanders took an early 2-0 in the second inning when Brooke Hebenton (pictured) doubled to left center field, plating Brittany Keeney and Jessica Vasser from first and second base respectively.
The Mean Green then responded with a single run in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 2-1, but proceeded to score three additional runs in the next inning to take a 4-2 advantage. North Texas added three insurance runs in the six inning to seal the 7-2 win.
Amy Lwin (0-2) got the staring nod for the Highlanders in the circle, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing six runs on eight hits for the loss.
UC Riverside returns to action for a home game against UCLA on Wednesday, Mar. 3 at 2:00 pm at Amy S. Harrison Field.
