UCR Baseball Heads To Surprise, AZ With 6-2 Record In Tow

The UC Riverside Baseball Team is heading to Surprise, Arizona this weekend for four games in the Eighth-Annual Coca-Cola Classic where they will face Oregon State on Thursday, March 4 at 3 pm PT, Florida International on Friday, March 5 at 3 pm, host Arizona State on Saturday, March 6 at 4 pm and Utah Valley on Sunday, March 7 at noon. The Highlanders are 6-2 heading into the tournament after Tuesday evening's 10-4 win over visiting San Diego State. That 6-2 mark is the team's second best start to a season since making the transition to Division I trailing only the 2003 squads 7-1 start. UCR won six of its first eight games in 2007 and 2009 as well.
Freshman Trevor Frank became the Highlanders first two-game winner of the season Tuesday striking out seven batters in five innings against the Aztecs. Frank is the first UCR freshman to win the first two starts of his career since the team made the transition to Division I prior to the 2002 season.
UC Riverside's starting rotation this weekend consists of Matt Andriese on Thursday, Dustin Emmons on Friday, Matt Larkins on Saturday and Eddie Orozco on Sunday.
