Game Notes Tournament Bracket
The UC Riverside women’s basketball team heads to the Big West Conference basketball tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center on Thursday at noon to begin postseason play, facing off against Cal State Fullerton.
Fans may tune in to the Voice of the Highlanders, Ghizal Hasan, as he calls the play-by-play beginning at 11:55 am right here on gohighlanders.com.
The Highlanders finished out the regular season in a tie for second place in the conference standings, but because of a tie breaker, they are seeded third in the tournament behind Cal Poly and UC Davis.
The Titans and Highlanders split of a pair of games in the regular season, with CSF winning 78-60 on Jan. 9, and UCR winning 53-51 on Feb. 6. The Titans defeated UC Irvine on Wednesday in the first round of play of the Big West Tournament to advance to the quarterfinals.
If the Highlanders win in the quarterfinals, they will advance to the semifinals on Friday, Mar. 12 at 2:30 pm against Cal Poly—the team that knocked them out of the tournament a year ago. A win in the semi’s advances them to the championship game on Saturday at 1:00 pm, and a chance to make it to the Big Dance.
