Riverside—Anheuser-Busch has teamed up with the UC Riverside Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and chosen baseball player Justin Shults as the May recipient of the "Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month." Please visit the Budweiser Responsibility Matters web page to view past recipients.
The senior designated hitter batted .431 in the Highlanders' 15 games in April, with a .500 on base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage. He also crushed eight home runs, driving in 19 and scoring 17 as UC Riverside went 9-6 during that span.
Three of the homers came in the Highlanders' 18-10 win over UNLV, and established a program Division I-era record in the process. He added two doubles on the day for a grand total of 16 total bases shattering the previous mark of 11 set by Tony Festa against UCLA on March 12, 2003 and later matched by Nick Salotti on April 17, 2004 against UC Santa Barbara.
Anheuser-Busch congratulates Justin Shults for demonstrating that RESPONSIBILITY REALLY DOES MATTER!
