Women's Soccer Picks Up First Win Of Year, 1-0, Over Texas State

San Marcos, Texas—UC Riverside's Melisa Escamilla took a pass from Deborah Musa in the 39th minute of play Friday evening, sending a shot past Bobcats goalkeeper Lauren Frazier to lead the Highlanders (1-2) to their first win of the 2010 season.
Jessica White was credited with the shutout in goal as she faced 14 Texas State (1-3) shots, including eight in the second period, and picked up five saves on the evening. It was the eighth shutout of her career.
Escamilla's goal was her first as a member of the Highlanders, and the road win was the first for UC Riverside since UCR topped Cal State Northridge, 1-0, on October 30, 2008.
The Highlanders trip through the Lone Star State continues on Sunday as UC Riverside heads to Austin, Texas to take on the Texas Longhorns at 5 pm PT.
