Riverside—Anheuser-Busch has teamed up with the UC Riverside Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and chosen men's soccer player Cesar Diaz Pizarro as the October recipient of the "Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month." Diaz Pizarro scored four goals in eight matches for the Highlanders during the month of September, including two game-winners, leading the team to a 6-1-1 record and the team's first regional ranking since the 2004 campaign.
On September 11, UC Riverside blanked Saint Mary's by a 1-0 score with Diaz Pizarro's knocking in the game-winner in the 71st minute of play.
Two weeks later, his assist on Ruben Valencia's second-half goal at North Florida also provided the Highlanders with a lead they would never relinquish.
Diaz Pizarro's second game-winner of the season came in a 2-1 win at Jacksonville on September 25.
The Chino, CA senior recorded his fourth score of the month in UC Riverside's 3-1 upset victory over seventh-ranked UC Santa Barbara.
