UC Irvine tied the set at 1-1 with a 25-19 victory in the second set, but the Highlanders came back in the third to win 25-18.
UCR took an 11-5 advantage early in the third before UCI scored seven of the next 10 points to get within two at 14-12. The Highlanders never allowed the Eaters closer than that, however, as they went up seven, 21-14, and won by that same margin, 25-18.
