Pacific Blitzes Highlanders, 92-57

The UC Riverside Highlanders fell to the host University of the Pacific Tigers, 92-57 at the Spanos Center in Stockton Saturday.
UOP moved to 22-7 overall and 17-1 in the Big West, tying them for first place with Utah State University. UC Riverside finished the regular season at 10-16, 7-11. UCR is 0-6 against UOP in the history of the series. The 35-point deficit was the Highlanders largest margin of defeat this season.
UCR struggled early and never found their footing, shooting 28.8% in the game. Junior forward Vili Morton led UCR with 17 points and five rebounds and Nate Carter had 12 points despite shooting 2-of-9 from the field. The Highlanders committed 14 turnovers.
Pacific, which jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, were led by Christian Maraker, Guillaume Yango and Miah Davis, who each scored 15 points. Tyler Newton added 10.
The Highlanders, who are the No. 5 seed in the tournament, will next play Wednesday at 6 PM vs. Cal Poly in the first round of the Big West Tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center.
