Valencia, Garcia Give Men's Soccer 2-0 Road Win Over North Florida

Jacksonville, FL—Ruben Valencia gave the Highlanders a 1-0 lead and Joel Garcia's goal with 10 seconds remaining put the final nail in the coffin as the UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team picked up a 2-0 road win over North Florida Friday evening.
The win moved UCR's (4-2-1) record two games over .500 for the first time since the 2007 team won its first two matches of the season.
The teams played to a scoreless tie through the first 45 minutes of play, but UC Riverside got on the board with 14:17 gone in the second as Garcia and Cesar Diaz Pizzaro found Valencia in the clear for his first goal of the year.
The Highlanders stil led 1-0 when North Florida brought its keeper forward for a corner kick late in the match. UCR controlled the ball off the set piece, and Garcia picked up his first score of the season from 40 yards out to end the scoring.
The Highlanders remain on the road this weekend taking on Jacksonville on Sunday at 11 am PT.
