Andrea Morales Scores In OT To Give Women's Soccer 1-0 Win Over Lamar

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team evened its record at 5-5-1 Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 overtime win over visiting Lamar as Andrea Morales scored the game-winner with 2:26 gone in the first extra period. (Box Score)

The Highlanders controlled play throughout regulation boasting seven corner kicks to zero for the Cardinals, outshooting them 20-7 overall and leading 7-3 in shots on goal.

Despite several good chances in the first 90 minutes, including a header in the first half by Shelley Brumbaugh that sailed just over the cross bar, the teams were scoreless at the end of regulation.

UC Riverside took the only two shots of the bonus period including the game winner as Deborah Musa collected the ball just outside the box and found Morales 15 yards out on the right side. Morales slotted her shot past Cardinals keeper Jennifer GIbbs for her third goal of the season and the 1-0 UCR victory.

The Highlanders are off until the start of conference play on Thursday, October 6 when they welcome UC Davis to the UCR Soccer Stadium. Kick off is slated for 7 pm PT.
