Jessica White Named Big West Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player Of The Week

Irvine, CA—The Big West named UC Riverside goalkeeper Jessica White the conference defensive player of the week today for games played from October 15-21. This is the second such honor for White who also won the award on September 6, 2010 (View All-Time UCR Big West Player of the Week Honorees).

The senior played a major role in the Highlanders success last week as they secured a 1-1 tie against first place Cal Poly and a 1-0 win over UC Santa Barbara. White recorded 13 saves against the Mustangs which is the second highest single-match total in the history of the program. Cal Poly scored 13 goals in their four conference matches prior to tangling with UC Riverside.

Against the Gauchos, the Highlanders led 1-0 with 11:36 to go in the match when UCR was called for a foul in their defensive box. White made the save on the subsequent PK to keep the Highlanders on top.
