UCR Softball Concludes Desert Classic With 9-1 Loss To Utah

Las Vegas, NV—The UC Riverside softball team concluded play at the UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic on Sunday afternoon with a 9-1 loss to Utah at Eller Media Stadium.
Casey Suda got the starting nod for the Highlanders (1-9) in the circle, getting out of a jam in the first inning, but giving up two runs in the second. The Utes (5-3) touched Suda for two additional runs in the third inning, giving way for Jordyn McDonald.
McDonald got the next three batters out, but allowed single runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings, and three runs in the six.
UC Riverside scored its solo run of the game in the top of the third, as Dionne Anderson hit a homer to right field—the first of her career. Unfortunately the Highlanders were limited to just three hits the rest of the day as Utah secured the 9-1 victory.
UC Riverside returns to Southern California to host the aTen Construction Tournament on February 24-26 at Amy S. Harrison Field in Riverside.
