Eugene, OR - Damajeria DuBose finished ninth overall to lead the UC Riverside women's cross country team to a fourth place finish out of seven teams Saturday morning at the Dellinger Invitational at Springfield Country Club.
Host Oregon won the team event totaling 18 points followed by Southern Utah with 73, Gonzaga with 87, and the Highlanders with 98.
"The women were really close to upsetting the teams ahead of us," Head Coach Irv Ray stated. "A great job by Damajeria, though; a lifetime best."
DuBose's 5k time of 17:08 was a personal-best and a minute better than her result from last year's Dellinger Invitational.
After DuBose, five of the Highlanders were packed together finishing between 25th and 33rd: Raquel Hefflin (25th, 17:40); Alisha Brown (27th, 17:43); Katy Daly (30th, 17:47); Brianna Simmons (32nd, 17:53); and Jzsanette Lindstrom (33rd, 17:55).
Jaasmin Pina finished in 52nd place with a time of 18:38, while Maryann Holliday rounded out the squad in 65th place.
Oregon's Alexi Pappas won the 5k race in 16:23.
UC Riverside returns to action hosting the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, September 13 at UCR's Ag/Ops Course in Riverside.
