Riverside—UC Riverside Cross Country and Track & Field athlete Alex Castellon is in his freshman season with the blue and gold, and we here at gohighlanders.com got to know him a little better this fall via our Highlander Highlights series.

   ... is a freshman from Ontario, CA
      ... competes in cross country and track
         ... is left-handed
            ... majors in electrical engineering
               ... has three brothers and two dogs
                  ... hates zucchini
Alex's motto he lives by is: Don't be afraid to try because of the fear that you might fail.
His greatest achievement so far in life has been receiving a scholarship for cross country and track here at UCR.
If Alex could witness any event, he would have wanted to witness the first ever space launch.
Alex's favorite quote is, "The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence."
His hidden talents are that he can play the piano, as well as baseball and basketball.
