Softball Concludes Campbell/Cartier Classic With 9-1 Loss To San Diego State

San Diego, CA - The UC Riverside Softball Team concluded the Campbell/Cartier Classic Sunday afternoon with a 9-1 loss to San Diego State.
The Aztecs (6-4) opened the game with two runs in each of the first and second innings, but the Highlanders (2-7) got one run back in the third as Marissa Escalante singled through the right side to plate Kayla White from third base, closing the margin to 4-1.
An inning later, SDSU added three more runs, and tacked on two more in the sixth to make it a 9-1 lead. The Aztecs finished with 14 hits on the day, the most hits the Highlanders have allowed all season.
Alyssa Razo tossed 5.2 innings of work in the loss.
UC Riverside now returns home to host the first of three tournaments, the Amy S. Harrison Classic, on February 22-24 at Amy S. Harrison Field in Riverside.
