Men's Golf 12th At Wyoming Cowboy Classic After 1st Round; 2nd Round Cancelled

Scottsdale, AZ—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team fired a 309 Monday in the first round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic to place 12th out of 24 teams at Talking Stick Golf Course.
The event was originally a 54-hole tournament, but the second round was cancelled Monday afternoon due to high winds. The final round will get underway Tuesday at 7:30 am with a shotgun start.
UCR's 309 is just eight strokes behind third-place Arizona (301), 10 behind second-place Gonzaga (299), and 15 back of the leader, Wichita State (294).
Individually, David Gazzolo leads the Highlanders with a four-over-par 74 to tie for 10th overall out of 126 golfers.
Jason Semthiti shot 77 and is tied for 43rd while Ryan Smith shot 78 to tie for 54th. Christian Rajcic carded an 80 to tie for 79th while BJ Doucett rounds out the squad in a tie for 94th with an 82.
There is currently a three-way tie for first place as Curtis Yonke from Kansas State, Glen Scher from UC Santa Barbara, and Louis Cohen Boyer from Wichita State are all tied with an even-par 70.
