CBU's Glenn Hakes took home individual medalist honors with a 140, but UC Riverside had five of the next six finishers.
"The Mission Cup allowed us to get our entire roster some early-season experience, particularly the large group of freshman that we brought in," stated UC Riverside Director of Golf/Head Men's Coach Eric Riehle. "Not only did they get their feet wet, but three of our young guys played very well, finishing under par for the event in tough afternoon conditions."
Leven Simon Seay led the Highlanders with a two-under-par 142 (67-75) to finish in second place, while Pachara Sakulyong (74-69) and Sam Gillis (66-77) fired identical one-under-par 143's to tie for third.
Jason Semthiti tied for fifth place with a 146 (76-70) while David Gazzolo came in seventh with scores of 72-76 (148). Rounding out the squad is Ryan Smith with a 153 (78-75), Brandon Tsujimoto with a 156 (76-80), and Billy Zhao with a 172 (82-90).
The Highlanders now prepare for the Saint Mary's College Invitational on September 22-24 in Monterey, CA.
