Men's Golf Remains In 13th To Conclude Arizona Intercollegiate

Tucson, AZ—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team recorded its best score of the tournament Tuesday in the final round of the Arizona Intercollegiate, firing a 302. David Gazzolo led the way with a one-over-par 72, while Sam Gillis shot a 76, and Pachara Sakulyong and Leven Simon Seay both fired scores of 77. Full Results.
The Highlanders three-round total of 917 (303-312-302) placed them 13th out of 14 squads to conclude the tournament.
Gazzolo was UC Riverside's top finisher tying for 37th with a 225 (75-78-72). Brandon Tsujimoto tied for 60th with rounds of 77-75-80 (232), while Sakulyong tied for 67th with a 234 (77-80-77).
Simon Seay (74-85-77) and Gillis (81-79-76) both came in with 236 three-round scores to tie for 70th.
Nationally ranked No. 4 California jumped into the lead winning the team title with a total score of 853, followed by host Arizona in second at 567.
The next four squads were all within two strokes of one another as #19 New Mexico placed third with an 871, #25 USC came in fourth with 872, and New Mexico State and #38 BYU tied for fifth with identical 873 scores.
There was a two-way tie for first place individually as Cal's Brandon Hagy and Joel Stalter both finished at two-under-par.
Next up for UC Riverside Men's Golf is The Farms Intercollegiate scheduled for February 10-11 in Rancho Sante Fe, CA.
