A Gresham kill made it 25-25, but a kill by Fullerton put them up at set point for the second time, 26-25. Another Gresham kill tied the set at 26, and an attack error by the Titans gave UC Riverside their second set-point, 27-26. Cal State Fullerton rallied to tie it at 27, and proceeded to score the next two to complete the come-from-behind victory, 29-27.
Neither team led by more than three points the entire third set as it was another close battle with 11 ties and five lead changes. UC Riverside found itself down by two points late, 23-21, but rallied using two Gresham kills to tie the score. Cal State Fullerton countered using a 7-1 run to retake the lead, 9-6, but the Highlanders tied the set at 11. The Titans eventually went up by four, 18-14, before the Highlanders scored four of the next five points to cut the margin to 19-18.
From there, the teams traded points until CSF took a 23-20 lead, and held on for the 25-22 victory to earn a 3-1 win in the match.
