Davis, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team was looking to open Big West Conference play with wins in its first two matches for the first time in the history of the program, but a second half score gave UC Davis a 1-0 victory.
Play throughout the match was even as the Aggies enjoyed an 18-14 edge in shots while the Highlanders (2-7-1, 1-1-0) had 10 corner kicks to UC Davis' eight.
Connor Willis-Hong provided the lone goal of the match as he headed in Matt Sheldon's corner kick with 2:09 to go in the first.
That was all the scoring the Aggies (4-0-7, 2-0-0) needed as Armando Quezada recorded his second shutout of the season.
The Highlanders return home this weekend for a pair of home games against Cal Poly on Thursday, October 9 at 8 pm, and vs. UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, October 11 at 7 pm.
