Irvine, CA—The Big West and College Sports Madness today named UC Riverside guard Brittany Crain the Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played December 22-28.
This is the third player of the week award of the year for Crain who leads the Big West in scoring and ranks seventh in the nation at 24.1 points per game.
In the Highlanders lone game of the shortened holiday week, the Moreno Valley native posted her fourth 30-plus point scoring game of the season as UC Riverside topped San Diego State 64-54. Crain scored 11 of the team's last 19 points over the final 7:19 as the Highlanders held off a late Aztecs rally to secure the victory.
Crain played all 40 minutes for the sixth time this year and notched the seventh 30-point game of her career. She connected on 11-of-18 from the field, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. She also made 5-of-7 from the free throw line, while chipping in five rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
