Softball Scores Two In Sixth, Rally Comes Up Just Short In 3-2 Loss To W. Michigan

Tempe, AZ - The UC Riverside Softball Team found itself down 3-0 after five innings Sunday morning against Western Michigan. The Highlanders scored a pair in the sixth and looked to keep their rally going in the seventh before ultimately falling 3-2 to the Broncos (Box Score).
UCR starting pitcher Alyssa Razo kept WMU off the scoreboard early before allowing a solo home run in the third. In the fifth, Western Michigan added a two-run bomb to increase its lead to 3-0.
That's when the Highlanders made their run, as the first three batters in the sixth inning all advanced on walks. With two outs, Sommer Wilson singled to the pitcher, scoring a pair to close the gap to 3-2.
Razo allowed a double in the top of the seventh, but got out of the inning unscathed as UCR had one last opportunity to tie or win the game. Unfortunately for the blue and gold, they went three up, three down in the bottom of the seventh as the Broncos held on for the 3-2 victory.
UC Riverside concludes action at the Kajikawa Classic Sunday afternoon with a 1 pm PT match against #7 Arizona State.
