Johns Named To Big West Men's Basketball All-Conference Honorable Mention Team

All-Conference Teams Specialty Teams
Irvine—The Big West Conference unveiled its 2013-14 Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams on Monday, naming UC Riverside's Taylor Johns to the Honorable Mention Team.
Johns played in all 30 games for the Highlanders while starting 28, averaging 12.3 points and grabbing a team-best 7.8 rebounds a game–fifth-best in the league.
The sophomore forward scored in double-figures in 19 games and had nine point-rebound double-doubles. He also led the team in scoring on 10 occasions and was high rebounder 16 times.
UC Santa Barbara's Alan Williams was named Big West Player of the Year, while Cal State Fullerton's Michael Wiliams earned Newcomer of the Year honors.
UC Irvine's Luke Nelson was named Freshman of the Year, while UCI Head Coach Russell Turner garnered Coach of the Year accolades.
The Anteaters picked up another award in the Specialty Teams, as Mamadou Ndiaye was named Defensive Player of the Year.
UC Santa Barbara's Kyle Boswell and Zalmico Harmon garnered the other two Specialty Awards: Best Sixth Player and Best Hustle Player, respectively.
No. 8 seeded UC Riverside now prepares for the Big West Conference Tournament facing off against No. 1 UC Irvine on Thursday, March 13 for a 6 pm PT tip at Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.
