Nick Vilter Named College Sports Madness National Field Player of the Week

Riverside—CollegeSportsMadness.com announced today that UC Riverside's Nick Vilter is the Madness National Baseball Field Player of the Week.
In four games last week, Vilter hit .455 with a .684 on base percentage and a 1.274 slugging percentage. He crushed three homeruns to give him six on the season, and drove in 11, scoring five.
On Saturday, Vilter drove in six of the team's nine runs, clubbing two homers (box score/recap). In game one of Sunday's double header, he drove in all four of the teams runs in a 4-3 win, cracking his sixth homer of the season (box score/recap). In game two, Vilter scored the game-winning run in the top of the ninth (box score/recap).
He also drew seven walks on the week, as Bakersfield walked Vilter three times in the final game of the series, and walked him three times intentionally over the final two games.
The Highlanders are at home this weekend as they welcome Sacramento State and West Virginia to The Plex for four games.
