Highlander Highlight: A Day In The Life Of ... Luis Gaståo

Riverside—UC Riverside Men's Tennis athlete Luis Gaståo is in his junior season with the blue and gold, and we here at gohighlanders.com got to know him a little better this winter via our Highlander Highlights series.

Luis ...
... is a junior from Vitoria, Brazil
... majoring in mechanical engineering
... does not eat spicy foods
... wishes he could teleport
... loves to watch his favorite team, the Fluminense Football Club
... believes that balance is the secret to a good life
Although Luis already knows Portuguese and a little bit of Spanish, he wants to learn French.
His greatest achievement so far was going 4-1 in Big West Conference matches during the 2012-2013 season.
If Luis could witness any event, he would have wanted to see when Gustavo "Guga" Kuerten beat Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi in the Tennis Masters Cup in 2000 to become the highest ranked tennis player.
His favorite quote is, "To dream is a matter of choice. To reach that dream is a matter of discipline."
If Luis could choose to be an animal, he would want to be a panther because he is focused and when he knows what he wants, no one can stop him.
