Women's Basketball Drops Regular Season Road Finale, 78-52, At UC Davis

Davis, CA - The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team dropped its regular season road finale Thursday evening, 78-52, at UC Davis. The Highlanders fall to 6-22 overall and 2-13 in Big West play, while the Aggies improve to 15-15, 9-6. Box Score.
The Highlanders fell behind early in the first period as the Aggies took a 12-5 lead after four minutes of action. UC Riverside rallied, using a 12-4 run to go up by one, 17-16, at the 8:44 mark.
That was the only lead UCR would have, however, as a 12-2 UC Davis run made it 28-19 score five minutes later.
UC Riverside cut the margin down to two possessions, 30-26, following a Kiara Harewood jumper and Brittany Crain three-pointer with under two minutes remaining, as the Aggies took a six-point margin, 32-26, into the half.
UCD jumped out of the gate strong in the second half scoring 14 of the first 18 points to go up by 16, 46-30, with 12:54 to go. UCR got as close as 12 points on two occasions, but could get no closer the rest of the way as the Aggies built a lead that reached as high as 29 points.
Simone DeCoud scored 17 points to lead the Highlanders while Crain added 15. Sydnee Fipps scored 20 points to lead UCD while three others added double-digit scoring.
For the game, the Aggies shot 50 percent from the field while limiting UC Riverside to just 32.8 percent shooting, including 29.4 percent from beyond the arc.
The Highlanders now host Long Beach State on Saturday, March 8 in the team's home finale. Tip is slated for 7 pm PT at the SRC Arena in Riverside.
