Ted Hooper Advances To NCAA Championship With Second Place Finish In Long Jump

Fayetteville, AR—UC Riverside's Ted Hooper punched his ticket to the NCAA Championship in two weeks, Thursday, with a second place finish in the NCAA West Preliminary Round. His first mark was his best as he cleared 7.70m (25' 3.25") out of the gate (view live results).
Michael Koger finished 39th in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 52.87, and Caleb Stuart finished 41st in the Shot Put clearing 54' 4.25". Carl Nahigian also took part in the Shot Put, but he fouled on all three of his attempts.
On the women's side, Danielle Littleton cleared 19' 9" in the Long Jump tying her for 15th place overall with four other student-athletes. The top 16 finishers advance to the second round, but ties are broken by ranking those involved on their second best jump. That left Littleton on the outside looking in as her next best mark was the shortest among the foursome.
Phoenisha Schuhmeier also took part in the Long Jump clearing 18' 5" to finish in 38th place.
Stuart is up early on Friday for the Hammer Throw at 8 am, followed by Littleton's first round, 100m Hurdles race at 3:30 pm.
Chime Ikeme is up first on Saturday as the Discus gets underway at 1 pm, and Littleton finishes the weekend with her 100m Hurdles quarterfinal heat at 5:20 pm.
