Men's Golf Opens Fall Season In 15th Place After Two Rounds At Saint Mary's Invitational

Seaside, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team opened its 2014-15 fall season Monday with 36 holes at the Saint Mary's Invitational, played at Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses. The Highlanders shot a two-round 612 to place 15th out of 16 teams, with a final 18-hole round scheduled for Tuesday. Full Results.
Host Saint Mary's leads the team competition at six-under-par 570, while San Diego is in second with a 575, and San Francisco sits third at 579.
UCR's 612 total is just one shot behind Cal State Northridge in 14th, and eight behind 13th-place Boise State.
Individually, David Gazzolo led the Highlanders with a seven-over 151 (77-74) to tie for 45th while Sam Gillis was one shot back at 152 (75-77) to tie for 49th.
Andre Vu carded scores of 75-79 (154) to tie for 62nd while Matt Lutz shot 76-79 (155) tying for 68th, and Brandon Tsujimoto finished 90th with a 164 (83-81).
San Diego's Mathias Dahl is the individual leader with a seven-under-par 137, maintaining a two-stroke advantage over the next golfer.
The third and final round of the Saint Mary's Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday at 8 am PT at Bayonet GC.
