Women's Golf Shoots Low Second Round To Vault Into Second At Desert Intercollegiate

Palm Desert, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Golf Team opened up its fall competition Saturday at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate with a two-round 608 total to place second out of 16 squads at The Classic Club. Complete Results.
The Highlanders rebounded from a first-round 312 to shoot 296 in the second round, becoming the only team in the tournament to shoot under 300. With its stellar second-round score, UCR vaulted into second place, just seven strokes behind the leader, San Jose State, at 601.
Following UC Riverside, New Mexico State is third with a 613 while Hawai'i is fourth at 618, and the College of Charleston sits fifth at 623.
Individually for the Highlanders, Savannah Vilaubi is tied for fifth overall with scores of 77-72 (149). Hannah Facchini is three strokes back at 152 (78-74) to tie for ninth, while Yuri Ahn is tied for 15th with a 154 (80-74).
Brittani Ferraro fired scores of 80-76 (156) to tie for 21st while Haley Wian is 26th with 77-80 (157). Playing as individuals separate from the team competition, Paris Griffith is tied for 49th with 80-81 (161) while Julia Sander is tied for 76th with a 167 (82-85).
