Men's Golf Finishes Fifth At Cowboy Southern Dunes Intercollegiate

Maricopa, AZ—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team moved up one spot Sunday at the University of Wyoming Cowboy Southern Dunes Intercollegiate to finish in fifth place, ahead of fellow Big West member Cal State Fullerton (team leaderboard / individual leaderboard).
Sam Gillis' 70 in the third round was the second lowest score of the day, and helped him lead the Highlanders with a three-round total of 216 (71-75-70). It also moved him up 13 spots and into a tie for fifth place.
Anthony Bonales (72-73-77, 220) finished second on the team, followed by Pachara Sakulyong (75-76-76, 227), Brandon Tsujimoto (74-76-78, 228) and Matt Lutz (82-71-82, 235).
Idaho took the team title shooting four under par, five shots better than the host Cowboys. The Highlanders finished at 22 over, four shots ahead of the Titans.
Arizona State's Nicolo Galletti (67-70-69, 206) took home individual honors finishing at 10 under over the two-day tournament, six strokes ahead of his nearest competition.
The Highlanders return to the linka in two weeks as they travel to Simi Valley, California for the Bill Cullum Invitational on October 19 and 20.
