Irvine, CA—The Big West today named UC Riverside sophomore Faith Makau the Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance Saturday at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic.

The Modesto, California native recorded the number one time in the nation in the 800m while breaking the meet and stadium record at 2:05.93. That time met the qualifying standard for USA Nationals, and is one-and-a-half seconds faster than her nearest Big West competitor.

The Highlanders are on the road this weekend at the Stanford Invitational in Palo, Alto, California
