Irvine, CA—The Big West named UC Riverside Baseball players Vince Fernandez and Joe Chavez to the All-Conference Second Team and Honorable Mention Team respectively Tuesday evening.

Fernandez had a breakout year for the Highlanders in this, his sophomore campaign, finishing 10th in the league during the regular season in batting average (.316), ninth in hits (65), fourth in home runs (7), fourth in slugging percentage (.524), sixth in triples (3), seventh in RBIs (34) and 15th in stolen bases (9).

Chavez closed out his four-year UCR career by earning his third all-conference nod, finishing 16th in the Big West in batting average (.308), third in triples (4), 11th in runs scored (37) 15th in stolen bases (9) and 12th in slugging percentage (.453). He was named to the Honorable Mention Team as a junior and the Second Team as a sophomore.
