Julio Reyes Wins Golden Ankle Wrap Award
6/3/2015 8:20:00 PM | Men's Soccer
Riverside—The UC Riverside Athletics Department hosted the annual Scotty Awards Wednesday evening to celebrate the many successes of the 2014-15 season. Men's Soccer player Julio Reyes was the recipient of the Golden Ankle Wrap Award, which is presented annually to the student-athlete whose dedication, work ethic and positive attitude in rehabilitating an injury are deemed most outstanding. .
Reyes became ill in the spring of 2014, and was forced, not only to stop playing soccer, but to withdraw from school. He rehabbed hard over the summer, but at the start of training camp, nobody knew if he would be able to enroll in school let alone play.
Reyes worked hard with the Sports Medicine Staff in the fall, both in the clinic and out on the pitch, and not only did he return to school, but he returned to the lineup midway through the season to close out his senior campaign.
