Los Angeles, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team traveled to LMU Sunday afternoon in search of its fifth win of the season, but it was the Lions scoring the lone goal of the match in the second half to secure a 1-0 victory.
Two days after nearly upsetting nationally-ranked Cal, the Highlanders' (4-4-0) offense managed just four shots, while LMU (5-2-0) kept UC Riverside on its heals, peppering the Highlanders defense with 16 shots.
Elizabeth Silas recorded six saves on the day, but missed out on a seventh in the 74th minute as Ally Andreini's header found its was between the pipes to put the Lions on top. It was her first goal of the season.
The Highlanders return home this week for one match—a Friday, September 18 meeting with Arizona of the Pac-12. Kick off is scheduled for 7 pm PT.
