Palm Desert, CA—Heading into the final round at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Classic, the UC Riverside Women's Golf Team trailed San Jose State by one stroke. The Highlanders made that deficit up with a team total of 296, Sunday, tying the Spartans for the overall team score, and walking away with the first place trophy thanks to the tournament tiebreaker.
View Team StandingsUCR's Hannah Facchini (72-71-74, 217), who led the tournament by one stroke heading into the final 18, shot a 74, but had to settle for second place. Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg (76-68-67, 211) shot the best round of any golfer at the two-day event logging a 67 to win the individual championship by six shots.
Highlanders freshman Jakeishya Le (72-74-74, 220) finished in a three-way tie for third place, followed by Haley Wian (75-76-73, 224, T8th), Paris Griffith (78-80-79, 237, T48th) and Krista Twet (81-82-75, 238).
