Oahu, HI— The UC Riverside Men's Cross Country finished seventh in the Big West Championship at Kahuku Golf Course.
Â
The men's team matched the previous year's finish with a seventh place result, led by Solomon Demeku-Ousman (26:06.4) in 24th, and Cesar Solis (26:06.5) in 25th (Men's 8k results). Cal Poly also placed five in the top-10 of the men's race, which included the top three spots led by Clayton Hitchins in a time of 24:36.1.
Â
Faith Makau finished third, and Weslie Totten was sixth to lead the Women's Cross Country Team to a sixth place finish.
Makau (21:29.1) and Totten (21:46.2) braved the rainy, windy conditions to finish inside the top-10 in the Big West Championship for the second year in a row (Women's 6k results). They finished first and fourth respectively last year, when the women's team placed third in the conference event.
The team title went to Cal Poly, who placed five runners inside the top-10, including Peyton Bilo in first with a winning time of 21:04.1.
Â
Both teams will off from competition next week, but will prepare for the NCAA Regionals in Sacramento Friday, November 11th.
