Box Score Riverside—The UC Riverside Softball team had their biggest offensive output of the season with, 11-3, five inning victory over visiting Army.
The Highlanders (4-4) scored in the first inning, when Jenna Curtan singled home Haley Harris to stake the home team to a, 1-0, lead.
Army (1-5) responded in the top of the second with two runs on three hits.
UC Riverside would then explode for 10 runs in the bottom half of the inning. Jenae Lockwood drew a lead-off walk to get things started, then later in the inning with the bases loaded, Maddie Richard singled up the middle to score two.
The Highlanders would go on to score 10 runs on nine hits to put the game in mercy rule territory, 11-2. Army would tack on a run in the fourth, and even stretched the final at bat to ten pitches, before Tayler Misfeldt fired a fastball by the hitter to end the game.
Misfeldt allowed three runs on six hits, striking out five in five innings of work.
Five UCR hitters had two RBI's each, Richard, Natalie Sanchez, Curtan, Courtnie Ploesch, and Hannah Rodriguez.
UC Riverside heads to Fresno to play in the Fresno State Kick Off tomorrow with games against Kansas at 11 am, and a 1:30 pm match-up versus Sacramento State. (
