Riverside—For the second time in three games, K-State pitchers held the Highlanders bats in check, sending the UC Riverside Baseball Team (1-2) to an 8-1 defeat Sunday afternoon.
UCR starter Ricky Delgado issued a four-pitch walk to Clayton
Dalrymple to start the game, and
Dalrymple came all the way around to score two outs later when Jake
Scudder laced a double down the right field.
It remained a 1-0 ballgame until the top of the fifth, as the Wildcats sent eight men to the plate. Once again, a lead-off walk played a part in the scoring as Delgado issued a free pass to number six hitter
Quintin Crandall to start the frame. After recording the first out on a fly ball to left center, Delgado allowed a single up the middle to Brooks Zimmerman, and a double steal to put runners on second and third.
A walk to the number nine hitter, Josh Either, loaded the bases, and one batter later, Jake
Wodtke beat out a single to short to make it 2-0 K-State (2-1). The next batter, Tyler Wolfe, cleared the bases with a double over the head of UCR left fielder Mark Contreras to give the Wildcats a five-run cushion.
KSU tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh before the Highlanders got on the board. Casey

UCR's lone run with a bases loaded single in the bottom of the eighth. The Wildcats scored two more runs in the top of the ninth for the final margin of victory.
Delgado took the loss for the Highlanders going five complete allowing five earned runs while striking out three and walking four. Keaton Leach gave up an unearned run in his three innings of work, striking out two with no walks. Jason
