Box Score Fresno—The UC Riverside Softball team got over .500 for the first time this season with a, 7-4, win over Sacramento State Saturday.
The Highlanders (6-5) broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh inning, when Alexis Lockwood doubled to right center, bringing in Anessa Cepeda. Lockwood then came around to score on a throwing error on a Courtnie Ploesch single.
Haley Harris stepped to the dish with two on and singled up the middle scoring Maddie Richard and Ploesch to make it a, 7-3 game.
Sacramento State (2-6) knocked in one with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, before Tayler Misfeldt induced a groundout to end the game. Misfeldt (5-3) picked up her fifth win of the season in relief of Kaylynn Peirce, who went 5.2 innings for the Highlanders.
Sunday UCR faces Kansas at 9 am in a rematch from Friday's game, a 5-4 loss. They will then take on tournament host #22 Fresno State, who is coming off a 3-2 victory over Kansas and is unbeaten at 8-0, scheduled for 11:30 am. (
