Box Score Tucson, AZ—The UC Riverside Baseball Team erased a three-run deficit against Arizona Tuesday evening, taking advantage of two Wildcats miscues to walk away with a 6-5 victory.
Trailing 3-0 heading into the top of the fifth, the Highlanders sent nine men to the plate scoring two runs on a Casey Worden RBI single and two more on a bases-loaded error by Wildcats (16-8) shortstop Cody Ramer.
UC Riverside (10-12) scored two more unearned runs in the top of the sixth when they put a pair of runners on with back-to-back, two-out walks. Worden then reached on an error by second baseman JJ Matijevic, scoring one, and a wild pitch made it 6-4 Highlanders.
Angel Landazuri (3-3) pitched four shutout innings in relief to pick up the victory allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out three. Ryan Lillie recorded the final out of the game to pick up his first save of the season.
The Highlanders and Wildcats play game two of their two-game mid-week series Wednesday beginning at 1 pm PT.
