Le Finishes 15th, Women's Golf Season Ends With 16th Place Result At The NCAA Regionals

Stanford—The Women's Golf historic season came to a close with a 16th place finish in the NCAA Regional at the Stanford University Golf Course Saturday. Jakeishya Le, the top finishing UCR golfer finished 15th and was just three strokes shy of qualfying for nationals. (Final results)

Heading into the final round, Le needed to finish as one of the top three golfers not on a top six finishing team to advance. She began her final round on hole no. 10 for the third straight day and was in the final group to tee off. She made three bogeys and had two birdies in the first nine to fall to +2 for the championship, but still within reach of a qualifying spot.

Le was able to remain bogey-free throughout the first five holes on her back nine, but bogeys on six and eight made reaching the national championship difficult. She would go on to finish the round with a three-over par 74 and as the fifth-highest placing individual in a tie for 15th.

The Highlanders as a team began the day 17th, and were able to climb to move to a 16th place finish in the regional after improving by five shots against with a 308 versus their day two team total of 313.

Tournament host Stanford (+4) defeated Southern Cal (+4) in a playoff to claim the regional title. Ohio State, North Carolina, Arkansas and Virgina round out the top-six teams that will davance to the National Championship.

UC Davis's Andrea Wong fired a six-under 65 en route to a share of the individual title with Elizabeth Szokol of Virginia, one shot ahead of Arkansas Alana Uriell -3.
